FAQs
About Our Sessions
-
Our tutors are qualified to work with both the French and British curricula, supporting students aged between 5 and 18.
For students following the British curriculum, we cover all subjects through KS1 and KS2, including strong foundational skills and preparation for 7+, 10+, 11+ and SATs. From KS3 onwards, we offer French and Spanish through to GCSE, and specialise exclusively in French for A-Level and IB.
For students following the French curriculum, we support most subjects from Élémentaire through to Lycée. At Collège and Lycée level, we provide support in French and Humanities subjects, alongside foundational and LV2 support in Spanish. We fully prepare students for the Brevet, Baccalauréat and DELF examinations.

A 1:1 session offers the most tailored learning experience. The tutor focuses entirely on the student, working through exactly the areas they find challenging in a safe, pressure-free environment where they can ask questions freely and build confidence naturally.
Our Bring a Friend option combines the best of both worlds: personalised tuition with the added benefit of peer learning and collaboration. Both students develop not just their academic skills, but also communication and teamwork.

Before any student starts, we ask parents or caretakers to fill in a form telling us about their academic background, learning style, goals and any additional needs. If necessary, we will also carry out an assessment to understand where they are in their learning journey. From there, their tutor designs each session around exactly what they need, adapting as they progress. No two sessions are ever quite the same, because no two learners are.

We do not offer online sessions. The Study Studio has been created as a calm, dedicated space, packed with resources including visual aids, tactile tools, books and quality stationery. Away from the distractions of home, this is where we believe students do their best work.
-
Students will never be allowed to use an electronic device unattended at The Study Studio. Upon arrival, we ask older students to leave their phone somewhere it will not distract them.
As for screens, we use them only as an explanatory tool, for example BBC Bitesize, or to review a student's answers on platforms such as ATOM. The Study Studio is a calm sanctuary where we want young learners to disconnect from screens as much as possible.
Practical Information
-
Our best work is achieved over the long term, and we believe that consistency is the key to academic success. As our term-time slots are often fully booked, we do not offer individual trial sessions. Instead, we host Open Doors once per term, the perfect opportunity for students and parents to meet our tutors, explore our studio and discuss goals face to face.
-
We understand that life can be busy! If you need to cancel a scheduled session, please let us know at least two weeks in advance. This allows us to adjust our tutors' schedules and credit the session back to your account for future use.

At The Study Studio, we pride ourselves on being a small, close-knit business. This allows us to build genuine relationships with the families we work with. Your tutor will communicate with you regularly, sharing observations and discussing progress in detail.
On a more practical note, your tutor will keep a record of every activity completed during sessions. The software we use also allows them to share a report after each session, outlining what was covered and what should be reviewed next.
-
The Study Studio has been designed as a sanctuary for focused learning. While we understand the desire to be part of your child’s academic journey, having parents in the learning area can occasionally be a distraction.
However, you won’t have to go far! Our in-house café is the perfect space to relax or work while you wait. Even better—for any lessons longer than two hours, your first hot drink is on us!
Our Services & Safety
-
Our Wednesday service is designed for families who need a seamless afternoon solution. Our Walking Bus collects your student from school and brings them to The Study Studio, where a delicious and healthy lunch, prepared by our in-house café, is served. The rest of the afternoon is dedicated to work time: homework, academic skills, exam preparation, whatever your student needs, we are here to help. This service runs from the moment your student leaves school until the end of the session, usually between 3:15 pm and 4:15 pm. And if there is time to spare, our studio is packed with academic games to keep things fun.
-
Our Walking Bus is a pick-up service available exclusively for our workshop and our Wednesday Pick-up, Lunch & Afternoon at The Study Studio programmes.
Your student's tutor will collect them from school, or from home during holidays, and accompany them to The Study Studio. We created this service for busy families, but also because we believe a good relationship between tutor and student can be a real game changer in the learning process. And what better way to start a session than a walk and a chat!
We pick up students within a 15-minute walking distance. During school time, we can collect from the following schools:
The Hurlingham Academy
Sulivan Primary School
École Marie d'Orliac (Lycée Français Charles de Gaulle)
Thomas's Fulham
Lady Margaret School
Holy Cross Catholic Primary School
Thomas's Academy
Parsons Green Prep School
Langford Primary School
Kensington Prep School
L'école des Petits

We have established rigorous protocols to ensure a safe and nurturing environment at all times.
We operate under a strict supervision mandate where no student is ever left unattended. Whether in a 1:1 session or during our Walking Bus transit, your student is under the constant, watchful care of our team.
Every member of our team holds an Enhanced DBS check and is trained as a Safeguarding Lead. Our tutors are also certified in Paediatric First Aid (12-hour course), specifically designed for medical emergencies involving young people.
Upon registration, we ask for a thorough questionnaire covering food allergies, dietary restrictions and medical conditions so our team can best prepare to support every student.
Our café has been authorised by Fulham and Hammersmith Council to ensure the highest standards of food safety for our Wednesday lunch service and daily snacks.
